Eritrea, winner of the 2019 Tour de l’Espoir

For its second edition, the Tour de l’Espoir 2019, organized from the 4th to the 9th of February by Vivendi Sports in Cameroon, saw the impressive team of Eritrea triumph. Dominating the entire course with no less than 3 wins out of the 5 stages, Eritrea finishes first overall in the team rankings. The leader of the team, Yakob Debesay Abraham finishes on the highest step of the podium at the end of this week-long race. Eritrea can also boast 3 riders in the top 10 of the individual rankings. Thanks to this performance, the Eritrean team are now invited for the first time in their history to the Tour de l’Avenir, final of the UCI U23 Nations Cup circuit. They succeed the team of Rwanda, victorious in 2018 of the Tour de l’Espoir.
